Message from Nick Lalich
On behalf of Fairfield City Council I wish you all an extremely joyous Eid as you celebrate the end of Ramadan.
I have always been fascinated by the month of Ramadan and have spoken to members of our Muslim community who describe it as a spiritual month of reflection – teaching patience, sacrifice and humility.
Ramadan allows Muslims to practice self-discipline, self-control and sympathy for those who are less fortunate. You have all achieved a great deal over the past month and deserve to celebrate your success.
I’d like to thank the MEFF Consortium for bringing the annual Multicultural Eid Festival and Fair to us here in Fairfield City.
I am proud that we are home to such a prominent event on the Islamic calendar, attracting tens of thousands of people from across New South Wales.
The Multicultural Eid Festival and Fair is a perfect example of how cultural harmony, inclusiveness, tolerance and respect can be achieved.
We are all extremely lucky to live in such a harmonious, culturally diverse community where we can all enjoy and learn from each other’s cultures.
I congratulate the Australian MEFF Consortium for organising this wonderful event every year and hope to see many more smiling faces at future festivals.
Mayor of Fairfield City
